PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Davi Da Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Rappenecker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rappenecker has chosen Burial - Untrue as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Tom Rappenecker looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tom Rappenecker!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Da Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rappenecker, pushing him back against the cage.
Rappenecker is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Da Silva pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Da Silva works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Da Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Rappenecker is retaining full guard.

Da Silva stands and steps away. Rappenecker gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Da Silva tries to close the distance and clinch but Rappenecker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Da Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Da Silva gets to his feet - Rappenecker follows without any prompting.
Rappenecker thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Da Silva if he has to take too many more of those.

Da Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Da Silva is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Da Silva is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rappenecker trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Da Silva tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Da Silva pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Da Silva cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Rappenecker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Davi Da Silva.
I think Da Silva has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
