Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Villar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kai Gi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Villar's entrance music is Mainit. A fine choice. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Villar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kai Gi!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gi on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Villar throws a right and a left that Gi avoids nicely.
Gi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Villar as he avoids it easily.
Villar comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Gi avoids a punch combination nicely.
Villar will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Villar misses with a series of wild punches.
Gi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Villar as he avoids it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gi takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A left and a right from Villar both land. Nice combination.
Villar rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gi moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gi with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Villar to score with a decent uppercut.
Villar throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Gi counters with a flying knee. Nice.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Some wild striking there from Villar.
Villar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gi circles away quickly and effectively.

Villar displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Gi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Villar pinned against the cage. Villar gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Chris Villar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kai Gi.
Villar keeps the fight on the outside.
Villar throws a series of punches but Gi avoids them all with ease.
Villar lands a glancing blow to the side of Gi's head.
Gi avoids a punch combination nicely.

Villar throws a lazy uppercut
and Gi counters with a low kick, right behind Villar 's knee.
Villar throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Villar takes a swing at Gi's ribcage but misses.
Villar throws a right and a left that Gi avoids nicely.
Villar fails to land with a series of punches.
Gi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gi slips a jab and a cross from Villar.
The crowd cheers as Villar lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gi doesn't seem phased though.
Villar tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gi was well out of range. Poor timing from Villar.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Villar cracks Gi with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Villar misses with a series of wild punches.
Nice takedown defense from Villar. No joy for Gi on that attempt.
Gi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gi slips a jab and a cross from Villar.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Villar lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Villar dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Villar throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gi on the side of the head.
Gi avoids the body shot from Villar.
Villar throws a right and a left that Gi avoids nicely.
Gi feints and then cracks Villar's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Villar down.
Villar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Villar connects with a jab.
Villar throws a series of punches but Gi moves out of range.

Villar connects with a body shot that sends Gi's belly button to the back.

Villar scores with a sloppy right hand. Gi should have avoided that one.
Villar swings for the body but Gi moves out of range.
Villar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gi circles away quickly and effectively.
Chris Villar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Villar manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Villar throws a hook but Gi blocks it.
Villar moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Villar scores with a jab to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Villar. Gi does a little dance to reset his feet.

Gi tries to close the distance and clinch but Villar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Villar misses with a few strikes there.
Villar throws a right hand that misses
and Gi counters with a head kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Villar throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gi.
Villar lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Gi at a distance.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Gi might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Villar has got the better of the exchanges.
Gi shoots in for a takedown but Villar shows good takedown defense.
Gi showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Villar.
Villar throws a jab when Gi was well out of range.

Villar throws a good cross that connects.
Villar misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gi.
Villar scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Villar throws a right and a left that Gi avoids nicely.
Gi connects with a high kick.


It looks like Chris Villar has been cut.
Nice straight punches there by Villar. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Villar.
Gi is looking to clinch.
Villar moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Villar fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Villar misses the shot to the body.
Villar misses with a double jab
and Gi counters with a head kick. That will keep Villar thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Villar looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Gi has taken the fight to the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Villar throws a combination. Gi tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Villar ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gi moves away.
Gi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Villar's waist but Villar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gi off to one side.
Villar thows a body shot but no joy.
Gi's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Villar connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gi scrambles back to his feet.
Gi takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Gi slips a jab and a cross from Villar.
Gi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gi moves away from the strike by Villar.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Villar fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gi manages to avoid it.
Gi moves in looking to clinch but Villar pushes him off.
Villar throws a body punch but Gi moves out of range.
Villar throws a right and a left that both miss.
Villar throws a series of punches but Gi moves out of range.
Gi slips a jab and a cross from Villar.
Villar works over Gi's head and body with a nice combination.
The fighters circling - Villar throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Nice sprawl there from Villar as Gi shoots in.
Villar falls off balance throwing a combination
and Gi counters with a leg kick.
Gi throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Villar.
Villar misses with a body shot.
Villar misses with a few strikes there.
Gi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Villar counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Chris Villar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kai Gi.

Gi shoots in and drives through. Villar sprawls well.
Villar pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Gi back to the cage. Villar follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Gi shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Villar manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Gi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Gi drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Villar dives on top into guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Villar's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Chris Villar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gi being controlled here, momentarily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gi throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Gi looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Villar is defending well. Gi quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Villar has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Gi celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kai Gi!
