And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pipo Pilipovic!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Faber shoots in for a takedown but Pilipovic shows good takedown defense.

Faber scores with a takedown into Pilipovic's guard.
Faber will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Faber makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pilipovic wants to sweep but no luck.

Pilipovic is working for a kimura but Faber is defending it quite comfortably.
Pilipovic tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Faber.
Faber is trying to control but can't.

That was a close round but I would say that Fedor Faber will probably get the nod.

Faber throws a head kick that misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - Faber looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Faber.
Pilipovic sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Faber takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Faber tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Pilipovic.
Pilipovic is refusing to be controlled, as Faber sits in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pilipovic manages to get to full guard.
Faber trying to stand up but can't free himself from Pilipovic's guard.

Faber avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Faber's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Faber would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Faber advances position into side control!
Pilipovic tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Faber thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Faber wants to stand but Pilipovic is controlling his arm.

Faber decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Pilipovic counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Faber has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pilipovic off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Faber pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Faber shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Faber wants to stand but Pilipovic is controlling his posture from full guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Faber shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pilipovic's guard.
Faber wants to control from the top but Pilipovic keeps moving.
Fedor Faber overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pilipovic controls Faber momentarily but Faber frees himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Faber tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pilipovic swivels and escapes.
Pilipovic shoots in and drives through. Faber sprawls well.
Faber doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Pilipovic counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Pilipovic stays in close to Faber's body and controls the position.

Faber scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Faber closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Pilipovic lands a nice leg kick that just misses Faber's sensitive parts.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Pipo Pilipovic.
I think Faber has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
