These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacKay with a lazy takedown attempt

and Pain counters with a single leg into guard. MacKay didn't expect that.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
MacKay keeping full guard, as Pain tries to pass.
Pain is pushing down on MacKay's leg trying to pass to half guard. MacKay is fighting to maintain full guard but Pain has managed to sneak the leg through.
Pain moves into full mount! MacKay won't be happy about that!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pain throws some wild stikes that MacKay manages to avoid easily.
BOOM! Pain connects with a massive shot to the dome!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pain fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pain pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

It looks like Brett MacKay has been cut.
Pain lands a big shot there that rocks MacKay but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
MacKay tries to get back to half guard but can't.
MacKay tries to lock up and control but Pain gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Pain is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. MacKay can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Pain cracks MacKay with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
