Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Boy Bastos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Francis Kamara!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kamara throws a series of punches but Bastos moves out of range.
Bastos moves into the clinch.
Kamara wants to get back to striking at distance but Bastos won't allow it.
Bastos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kamara misses with a series of wild punches.
Bastos rushes Kamara and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bastos breaks the clinch.
Bastos looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bastos throws a sloppy head kick and Kamara moves out of range easily.
Bastos rushes Kamara and presses him up against the cage.
Bastos pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bastos clinches with his opponent.
Bastos breaks the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bastos looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kamara rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bastos moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kamara throws a right and a left that Bastos avoids nicely.
Kamara fails to land with a series of punches.
Bastos clinches.
Bastos jumps guard and drags Kamara to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Kamara tries to free his leg and advance position but Bastos is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kamara drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bastos dives on top into guard.
Bastos knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kamara on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Bastos stands up from Kamara's guard - Bastos perhaps looking for a knockout.
Bastos moves into the clinch.
Bastos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bastos misses with a double jab.
Kamara has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Bastos.
A right-left combo lands from Kamara.
It looks like Boy Bastos has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kamara will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kamara pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kamara tries to score with a low kick but Bastos moves his leg out of the way.
Bastos misses with a few strikes there.
Bastos shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kamara tries to roll over but Bastos keeps him under control.
Kamara wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kamara trying to hold on to Bastos's head to control him but Bastos postures up.
We're going to have a standup here because Boy Bastos wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Bastos rushes Kamara and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bastos has clasped his hands together around Kamara's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Bastos working away.
Kamara is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Bastos's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bastos postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Kamara to stand up.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Whack! Kamara lands a heavy head kick that drops Bastos. The ref tackles Kamara to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Bastos was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Francis Kamara!
