Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mariano Lima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Silva Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lima sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Diaz somewhat.
Lima looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Diaz wants to clinch up but Lima keeps it at a distance.
Lima throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Diaz gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Diaz pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Diaz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lima closes the distance and clinches up with Diaz, looking for a takedown. Lima pushes Diaz against the cage but Diaz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Diaz rushes Lima and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Diaz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Diaz tries to clinch but Lima moves out of range.
Diaz tries to clinch up but Lima circles away and keeps his distance.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt - Lima sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Lima gets tackled into the cage by Diaz. Diaz maintains the clinch.
Diaz tries to break the clinch but Lima is controlling the position.
Diaz is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Diaz successfully pulls guard.
Lima might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Diaz will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Diaz is pulling down on Lima's head to control his posture.
Lima has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Diaz to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Lima is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Diaz pulls down on the head and he's put Lima to sleep! This one is all over!
