PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Olaf Saurkraut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saurkraut comes to the cage accompanied by Poland National Anthem. Charles has chosen Don't Fake the Funk by Prince Charles as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Olaf Saurkraut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Henry Charles!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saurkraut on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Charles. Charles obviously looking to wear him down.
Charles shoots in looking for a takedown but Saurkraut manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Charles's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Saurkraut changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Charles tries to avoid it but Saurkraut manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Charles to the ground. Charles escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Charles misses with a leg kick.
Saurkraut shoots in for a takedown but Charles shows good takedown defense.
Saurkraut avoids the head kick by Charles.
Charles throws a sloppy head kick and Saurkraut moves out of range easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Saurkraut.

Charles lands with an uppercut that bounces Saurkraut off the cage and back into range.

Saurkraut decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Charles is looking for a sweep. Saurkraut is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Saurkraut not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Saurkraut seems to be working for a kimura but Charles defends the submission attempt.
Saurkraut is nestled in close to Charles, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Saurkraut postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Charles to stand up.

Saurkraut is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Charles's half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Saurkraut connects with a nice short shot to Charles's temple.

That's time! Saurkraut's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Saurkraut tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Charles swivels and escapes.
Saurkraut closes the distance and clinches up with Charles, looking for a takedown. Saurkraut pushes Charles against the cage but Charles circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Olaf Saurkraut. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Charles counters with a low kick, right behind Saurkraut 's knee.
Saurkraut shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Charles pinned against the cage. Charles gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Horrible takedown by Charles or perhaps it was just good defense by Saurkraut which made him look bad.
Saurkraut shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Charles as he avoids it easily.
