PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dylan Mcgrath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royce Grace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grace has chosen Go To Sleep - Eminem as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dylan Mcgrath!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Royce Grace!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Mcgrath misses.
Jab, jab by Grace - just one landing.
Grace misses the shot to the body.
Mcgrath throws a series of punches but Grace moves out of range.
Grace on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Grace will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mcgrath misses with an uppercut

and Grace decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mcgrath's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Grace is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Mcgrath has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Grace is proving hard to escape from.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Grace is on top in guard.
Grace stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mcgrath swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mcgrath can't keep his opponent in guard - Grace advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Grace seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mcgrath does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Grace is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mcgrath sees it coming and defends easily.

Grace might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mcgrath kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Mcgrath is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Grace is controlling him.
Grace works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Grace tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mcgrath knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Mcgrath kicks off Grace and gets to his feet.
A punch lands to the side of Mcgrath 's head but he takes it in his stride.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mcgrath tries to sprawl but Grace drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mcgrath is defending against the submission attempts here by Grace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Royce Grace dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Grace digs a good hook to Mcgrath's body.
Grace shoots in for a takedown but Mcgrath shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Dylan Mcgrath is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Grace fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Grace.

Mcgrath throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Mcgrath throws a chopping leg kick but Grace manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Grace shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mcgrath defends it nicely.

Grace throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mcgrath tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Grace is in Mcgrath's guard.

Grace drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mcgrath dives on top into guard.

Grace has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mcgrath can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Mcgrath decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Grace, up you get!
Grace throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Grace dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Mcgrath takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mcgrath misses with the combination.
Mcgrath fails to land with a series of punches.

Mcgrath misses with a looping left.
Grace fails with the takedown
and Mcgrath counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Grace swings for the body but Mcgrath moves out of range.
Mcgrath lands a glancing blow to the side of Grace's head.

Mcgrath gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Grace cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Grace has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Royce Grace showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Grace feints and as Mcgrath raises his hands in defense, Grace changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Grace stands and throws Mcgrath's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Grace tries to score with some ground and pound. Mcgrath controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Mcgrath parries the strikes from Grace easily there. Grace is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mcgrath to escape.
Mcgrath tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Grace wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Grace throws a strike aimed at the side of Mcgrath's head but Mcgrath avoids it well.
Grace tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Mcgrath wants to control but Grace postures up.
Mcgrath is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Grace swings around for an armbar but Mcgrath sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Grace's guard.
Mcgrath knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Grace on the ground.

Grace is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Grace is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Grace wants to take a breather but Mcgrath is having none of it.

I've got Grace winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
