Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Klem Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Klem Patterson is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Klem Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patterson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Some wild striking there from Patterson.
Patterson misses with a few strikes there.
Diaz tries to clinch there but Patterson circles away.
Patterson misses with the combination.
Diaz checks a leg kick.
Horrible takedown by Diaz or perhaps it was just good defense by Patterson which made him look bad.

Diaz fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diaz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Patterson swivels and escapes.
Klem Patterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Diaz.
Patterson tries to bum rush Diaz with a series of wild strikes but Diaz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Diaz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Diaz wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Patterson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Patterson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Diaz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Diaz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Patterson wants to hit a switch here but Diaz passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Patterson there!

Diaz has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Patterson's face.

Diaz wants to control the pace but Patterson is squirming around nicely.
Patterson is trying desperately to improve position.

Patterson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Diaz stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Diaz wants to control but Patterson postures up.

Patterson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Patterson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground.
Diaz is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Patterson off and has taken his back!
You can see the frustration on Patterson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

and Patterson counters with a left and a right that stings Diaz.

Diaz tries to pull guard but Patterson holds him up against the cage and eventually Diaz drops back down to his feet.

Patterson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Patterson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Patterson tries to get out of the position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Klem Patterson will probably get the nod.

Diaz pushes Patterson off looking to stand but Patterson dives back in and keeps control.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Patterson connects with a nice short shot to Diaz's temple.
Patterson is nestled in close to Diaz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Diaz tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Patterson manages to move to mount!

Patterson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Diaz is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Patterson pulls his head out easily.
Diaz is looking to control Patterson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Diaz avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz is trying to keep from getting into a worse position than he's already in but Diaz is working away and isn't letting himself get tied up.
Diaz tries to get to full guard but Patterson has control of the leg.
Diaz is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
