Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jim Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kangas Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khan has chosen Try and Catch Me as his entrance music. Jim Carwin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Carwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kangas Khan!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carwin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Khan is fending him off so far but Carwin persists. Nope, Khan circles away and we're back to standing.
Carwin shoots in but Khan avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Khan has closed the distance and engaged Carwin in a clinch.
Khan content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Carwin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Khan tries to clinch but Carwin moves out of range.
Khan wants to clinch up but Carwin keeps it at a distance.
Khan leaves Carwin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Carwin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carwin shoots in and drives through. Khan sprawls well.
Khan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Carwin.

Carwin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Khan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Khan throws Carwin to one side and escapes!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carwin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Khan's waist but Khan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carwin off to one side.

Carwin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Carwin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Khan can't do much from the bottom here.

Carwin controlling the position from side mount.
Khan bucks up and tries to throw Carwin off but instead Carwin has got his back!
Khan looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Khan trying to control the hands but Carwin breaks the grip.

What can Khan do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Khan is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Khan wants to control his opponent's hands but Carwin gets his hands free.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Khan is trying to get back to his feet but Carwin has full control of the position and if anything, Khan has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Carwin biding his time, controlling Khan.
Khan has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carwin is riding his opponent, not letting Khan buck him off.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Khan drives through and clinches with Carwin against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jim Carwin will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Carwin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Khan defends it nicely.
Khan scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Khan drives through and clinches with Carwin against the cage.
Carwin drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Khan gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Khan is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Carwin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Khan lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Carwin wants to take the fight to the mat but Khan manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Khan is trying to break free.
Carwin has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Khan after a bit of a struggle.
Khan tries to break the clinch but Carwin is controlling the position.
Carwin is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Khan is defending well.

Carwin breaks the clinch.
Carwin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Khan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carwin somewhat.
Jim Carwin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Carwin takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Nice sprawl there from Khan as Carwin shoots in.
Khan tried to score with a low kick but Carwin checks it.
Carwin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Khan defends it nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Khan tries to bum rush Carwin with a series of wild strikes but Carwin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Carwin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Khan but Khan pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Khan tries a head kick but it misses.
Jim Carwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carwin shoots in looking for a takedown but Khan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carwin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Khan darts in and clinches Carwin up against the cage.
A left hand lands to the body for Khan.
Carwin has Khan pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Khan manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Carwin goes for a takedown attempt but Khan pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Khan misses with the combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Khan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carwin, pushing him back against the cage.
Carwin is looking to control Khan's arms but Khan gets an underhook and turns him. Now Carwin has his back to the cage.
Khan landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Khan wants to break the clinch but can't.
Khan is working Carwin over against the cage.
Carwin blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Khan wants to stall.
Carwin is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Khan throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Khan keeps control of Carwin as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Carwin goes for a takedown in the clinch but Khan prevents it.
Carwin has Khan pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Khan manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Khan pushes Carwin back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carwin is trying to drag Khan to the mat but Khan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Khan breaks the clinch.
Khan cracks Carwin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Carwin shoots in looking for a takedown but Khan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carwin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Khan throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Carwin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Khan feints a jab promting Carwin to slip. Khan then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Carwin slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


Carwin is rocked!

Khan has closed the distance and engaged Carwin in a clinch.
Oh Carwin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A right handed body shot lands from Khan.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Khan connects with a knee to the head.
Khan lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Khan lands with a right to the head.
Khan dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Khan.
A body shot lands from Khan.
Khan lands a body punch in the clinch.
Khan unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Carwin! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Khan is unloading with more strikes now! Carwin drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kangas Khan!
