PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dan Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Eigo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wallace comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica-Enter Sandman. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace fails with the takedown.
Wallace shoots in and drives through. Eigo sprawls well.
Wallace on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Eigo. Eigo obviously looking to wear him down.

Wallace shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Eigo but Eigo pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Wallace shoots in but Eigo avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Eigo bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Eigo wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Wallace moves forwards but Eigo connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Eigo fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wallace.

Wallace scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Eigo wants to control but Wallace postures up.
Wallace lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Eigo is looking to regain half guard here but Wallace keeps moving and retains side control.

Wallace goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Eigo has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Wallace but great work by Eigo.

Eigo is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wallace is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wallace has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Eigo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wallace doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wallace manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wallace accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Wallace shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Wallace has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Wallace looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Eigo is fending him off so far but Wallace persists. Nope, Eigo circles away and we're back to standing.

Wallace throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Eigo has his hands clasped together but Wallace breaks the hold and Eigo is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Wallace!
