Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Quinton Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joey Fagan!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ellis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ellis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Ellis wants to control the pace but Fagan is squirming around nicely.

Fagan wants to get back to his feet.

Ellis has hold of Fagan's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Fagan manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Fagan is trying to escape the mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fagan is squirming around, avoiding Ellis's attempts to control the action.
Ellis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Quinton Ellis wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Fagan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ellis defends it nicely.

Ellis just misses with a punch to the body.
Ellis shoots in for a takedown but Fagan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ellis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fagan is fending him off so far but Ellis persists. Nope, Fagan circles away and we're back to standing.

Fagan is trying to control the action in half guard but Ellis is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Fagan goes for an armbar but Ellis turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Ellis.

Fagan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ellis is aware though and is defending well.

Fagan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ellis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ellis slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinton Ellis dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Ellis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Fagan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Fagan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ellis.
No luck for Fagan with that takedown attempt.
Fagan shoots for a double leg takedown but Ellis sprawls well. He's pushed Fagan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Quinton Ellis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Fagan.
Ellis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fagan as he avoids it easily.
Ellis tries to clinch but Fagan is having none of it.
Ellis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fagan sprawls well. Fagan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ellis gets slowly back to his feet.

Fagan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ellis knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Fagan tries to advance to mount but can't.
Ellis wants to control but Fagan postures up.

Fagan looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Ellis is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Fagan maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Ellis could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Fagan has cracked it and Ellis is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Fagan!
