The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Beowulf.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt.
Beowulf scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Beowulf throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Silva paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Beowulf lands with a nice body kick.

Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Beowulf throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Beowulf lands with an uppercut that bounces Silva off the cage and back into range.

Beowulf throws a chopping leg kick but Silva manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Beowulf thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Silva if he has to take too many more of those.
Silva misses with a looping left.
Beowulf misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Silva uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Beowulf.

Beowulf takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Liberius Beowulf hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
A swing and a miss from Silva.
Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Beowulf, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes Beowulf against the cage but Beowulf circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adonis Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Beowulf has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Beowulf there as he acknowledges the shot.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Beowulf counters with a body kick that stops Silva in his tracks momentarily.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Beowulf. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Beowulf can do anything to dispel that myth.

Silva throws a strike but Beowulf rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Beowulf stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Beowulf is looking to advance position but Silva has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Liberius Beowulf is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Silva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Silva is stalling here. Beowulf is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Silva seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Beowulf has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
