Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peter McCool (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Cesar Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCool comes to the cage accompanied by I'm Shipping Up to Boston. Julio Cesar Chavez will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Peter McCool!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Julio Cesar Chavez!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Kavanagh and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chavez shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. McCool eats them both and turns towards Chavez to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
McCool tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chavez was well out of range. Poor timing from McCool.

McCool throws a hook but Chavez avoids it easily.
McCool misses with a hook to the body
and Chavez counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

McCool closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Chavez to the mat! Chavez manages to get full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
McCool trying to control the position from guard on top but Chavez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McCool postures up and lands a big shot to Chavez's brow.
McCool trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
McCool wants to control from the top but Chavez keeps moving.
McCool working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
McCool has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McCool tries to free his leg and advance position but Chavez is retaining full guard.
McCool stands and throws Chavez's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McCool has hold of Chavez's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Chavez seems comfortable defending it but McCool has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Chavez is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Chavez is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but McCool couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Peter McCool!
Peter McCool decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
