Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clark Devereaux!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Devereaux fails with the takedown.

McGuirk looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Devereaux lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McGuirk!
Devereaux controlling the position easily from mount.
McGuirk tries to hold on but Devereaux postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McGuirk is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
McGuirk tries to lock up and control but Devereaux gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

McGuirk manages to control the position for a moment.
Devereaux looking to ground and pound but McGuirk is blocking nicely.
Devereaux should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Devereaux scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Devereaux stands up from mount. Strange move.
Devereaux looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McGuirk is fending him off so far but Devereaux persists. Nope, McGuirk circles away and we're back to standing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McGuirk tries to grapple but his opponent circles
letting Devereaux counter with a right hand.
McGuirk moves in looking to clinch but Devereaux pushes him off.
McGuirk shoots in for a takedown but Devereaux shows good takedown defense.
Devereaux shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
John McGuirk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clark Devereaux.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for McGuirk.

McGuirk manages to break the clinch.
McGuirk swings for the body but Devereaux moves out of range.

McGuirk has closed the distance and engaged Devereaux in a clinch.
McGuirk tries a knee to the head but Devereaux blocks it.

McGuirk escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
No luck for Devereaux with that takedown attempt.

McGuirk seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
McGuirk is breathing heavily.

Devereaux avoiding damage under a succession of punches from McGuirk.
McGuirk wants to free his trapped foot but Devereaux is holding on for dear life with his legs.
McGuirk wants to lay and pray for a moment but Devereaux keeps working.
McGuirk stops Devereaux from getting back to his feet.
Devereaux is pressing down on McGuirk's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McGuirk trying to control but Devereaux is working from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McGuirk throwing strikes but missing.

McGuirk stands and steps away. Devereaux gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John McGuirk will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Devereaux closes the distance and clinches.
Devereaux is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Knees in the clinch landing for McGuirk.

McGuirk tightens his grip and picks Devereaux up, before dumping him to the ground. Devereaux manages to land in guard.

McGuirk stands and steps away. Devereaux gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
McGuirk misses with a few strikes there.
McGuirk wants to clinch but Devereaux slips to the side
and Devereaux counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. McGuirk is lucky that one didn't land flush.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Devereaux swats away the attempt to clinch by McGuirk.

McGuirk closes the distance and clinches.
Devereaux drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McGuirk gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Devereaux is breathing heavily.

McGuirk breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Clark Devereaux seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Devereaux throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McGuirk's waist but McGuirk gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Devereaux off to one side.
McGuirk doesn't manage to clinch there - Devereaux circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McGuirk.
McGuirk shoots in looking for a takedown but Devereaux manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McGuirk's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
McGuirk dives in and grabs Devereaux's left leg, looking for a takedown. Devereaux pushes down on McGuirk's head and hops out.

Devereaux throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McGuirk.

McGuirk shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Devereaux's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McGuirk stands up from Devereaux's guard - McGuirk perhaps looking for a knockout.

Devereaux pushes McGuirk up against the cage in a clinch.
McGuirk has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Devereaux is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Devereaux has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics McGuirk uses from the top position.

Devereaux throws the left hand but McGuirk avoids the punch easily.
McGuirk is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
McGuirk moves in looking to clinch but Devereaux pushes him off.

Devereaux gets a double leg takedown into McGuirk's guard.
Devereaux wants to control from the top but McGuirk keeps moving.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Clark Devereaux hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Devereaux tries to keep at a distance but McGuirk has taken the fight into the clinch.
McGuirk lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Devereaux looking for a takedown.
The referee is keeping an eye on McGuirk - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with McGuirk for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


McGuirk shoots in for a takedown but Devereaux shows good takedown defense.

Devereaux forces McGuirk back against the cage and clinches.
McGuirk lands a nice knee to the body.

McGuirk decides to pull guard.
McGuirk is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Devereaux stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McGuirk swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Devereaux connects with a couple of short punches.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

McGuirk is pulling down on Devereaux's head to control his posture.
McGuirk wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Devereaux is now in half guard.
McGuirk is trying to control but can't.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Devereaux controlling the pace.
Devereaux wants to control but McGuirk is keeping him busy.

McGuirk is looking to escape.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Devereaux is trying hard to land a takedown here. McGuirk sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Devereaux has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by McGuirk.
Devereaux on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

McGuirk tries to close the distance and clinch but Devereaux swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

McGuirk fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

McGuirk tries to clinch up but Devereaux circles away and keeps his distance.

McGuirk drives through and clinches with Devereaux against the cage.
Devereaux is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
