The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vellonaz closes the distance and clinches.

Baeta could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Vellonaz pulls guard.
Vellonaz is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Vellonaz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Baeta can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Vellonaz tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Baeta lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Baeta throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Vellonaz to regain full guard.
Vellonaz wants to sweep but no luck.
Vellonaz keeping moving, preventing Baeta from controlling successfully.

Vellonaz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Thiago Vellonaz hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Baeta misses with a takedown
and Vellonaz counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Baeta wants to control but Vellonaz is keeping busy.
Vellonaz stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Baeta to get to his feet.

Baeta has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Baeta there as he acknowledges the shot.
Vellonaz scores with a nice strike.

Vellonaz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Vellonaz is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Baeta has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Vellonaz is looking to defend but Baeta has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Vellonaz! Baeta pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Vellonaz taps out and this one is all over!
