Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dale Rossi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Urijah Faber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rossi comes to the cage accompanied by Heavy Metal! . Faber is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Motörhead - King of Kings. Urijah Faber has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Urijah Faber!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Faber pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Rossi drives through and clinches with Faber against the cage.
Faber tries to pull guard but Rossi forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Rossi can't find room to land a body shot as Faber controls the action.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Rossi takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Rossi lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Rossi misses with a body punch.
Faber is trying to pull guard but Rossi has him pressed against the cage.

Faber manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Rossi looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Rossi's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rossi passes Faber's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Rossi keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Rossi seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Faber for as long as he can get away with.
Faber is trying to stand.
Rossi is nestled in close to Faber, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Faber tries to kick Rossi off but Rossi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rossi lands a nice short elbow.

Rossi wants to free his trapped foot but Faber is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Well, if Rossi is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Rossi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Rossi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Faber on the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dale Rossi.
Faber rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rossi moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Faber tries to bum rush Rossi with a series of wild strikes but Rossi uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A telegraphed right hand from Faber misses the target.

Rossi fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Faber to the ground. Rossi is now in Faber's guard.

Faber is looking for a triangle but Rossi pushes his legs off easily.

Rossi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Faber manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rossi manages to get himself to full guard.

Faber postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rossi is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Faber, into his guard.

Rossi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Rossi tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Faber tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Faber really wants to buck Rossi off and get back to his feet.
Rossi looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Faber tries to hold on but Rossi pushes him away.

Faber sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Rossi is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Faber tries to kick Rossi off but Rossi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Rossi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are battling for position here. Faber manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Faber has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Rossi doesn't defend quickly enough and Faber has managed to lock this one up! Can Rossi escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Faber on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Urijah Faber!
