PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Beaumont McHale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Pynchon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Thomas Pynchon was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Beaumont McHale!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thomas Pynchon!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McHale shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Pynchon counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
McHale is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pynchon wants to pass the guard but McHale is keeping the position.
Pynchon trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as McHale holds on and takes a little breather.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pynchon looking to pass the guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
McHale looking for a sweep. Not yet McHale, not yet.
McHale is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Pynchon postures up in McHale's guard and throws a big left but McHale blocks it.
Pynchon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McHale is keeping the position for now.
Pynchon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McHale. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McHale wants to stand but Pynchon is controlling the position.
McHale is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Pynchon tries to roll over but McHale keeps him under control.
McHale throwing shots but Pynchon is blocking nicely.
Pynchon wants to improve his position but McHale is controlling well.
McHale lands strikes from half guard.
Pynchon regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from McHale.
Pynchon tries to land a sweep but no joy.
McHale lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Pynchon wants to sweep here but McHale controlling him for the moment.
McHale seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pynchon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
McHale stays in close to Pynchon's body and controls the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pynchon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McHale manages to get himself to full guard.
McHale manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Pynchon keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Pynchon gets back to half guard.
McHale lands with a punch from half guard.
McHale is pressing down on Pynchon's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pynchon is holding on for now.
Pynchon is trying to get back to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Thomas Pynchon.
I think Pynchon has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Beaumont McHale retains his title. It's always disappointing when a championship fight ends as a draw but that's what happens when you leave the fight in the judges hands!
