PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ivanna Puff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cyriel Clancy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clancy has chosen My Sacrifice as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cyriel Clancy!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clancy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Puff but Puff pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Puff shoots in looking for a takedown. Clancy tries to sprawl out of it but Puff keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Clancy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Puff gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Clancy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Puff feints and as Clancy raises his hands in defense, Puff changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Puff decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Clancy, up you get!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Puff.
Puff avoids the head kick by Clancy.
Clancy tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Puff decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Clancy's guard.
Clancy is looking to stand up but Puff isn't so interested in that idea.
Clancy wants to sweep here but Puff controlling him for the moment.

Puff gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Puff closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Clancy has had enough of the clinch but Puff keeps him there for the moment.

Puff is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Clancy knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Clancy for a finish.

Puff throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Clancy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Puff changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Clancy tries to avoid it but Puff manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Clancy to the ground. Clancy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Clancy wants to break the clinch but can't.
Clancy is trying to break free.
Clancy can't find room to land a body shot as Puff controls the action.

Puff manages to break the clinch.
Clancy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Puff moves away.
Puff shoots in looking for a takedown. Clancy tries to sprawl out of it but Puff keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Clancy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Puff bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Puff has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Clancy is proving hard to escape from.

Clancy pushes Puff off and scrambles back to his feet.

Clancy shoots in for a double leg but Puff sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Clancy has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Clancy goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Puff gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Clancy is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Puff has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Clancy is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivanna Puff. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Puff is working for takedown but Clancy is calmly controlling the position for now.

Puff lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Clancy.

Puff shoots in and bounces Clancy off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Puff wants to stand but Clancy has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Clancy manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Clancy goes for an armbar but Puff turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Puff.
Clancy wants to improve his position but instead Puff has moved into half guard.
Cyriel Clancy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Puff stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Clancy to get to his feet.
Puff misses with a head kick.

Puff drives through and clinches with Clancy against the cage.

Puff breaks the clinch.
Puff tries to close the distance and clinch up but Clancy swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Puff feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Puff is pushing down on Clancy's leg trying to pass to half guard. Clancy is fighting to maintain full guard but Puff has managed to sneak the leg through.

Puff seems to be working for a kimura but Clancy defends the submission attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ivanna Puff.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Puff, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
