Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brett Yelton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oliver John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oliver John will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brett Yelton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Oliver John!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Alyssa Summers and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
John throws a right and a left that Yelton avoids nicely.

Yelton tries to clinch there but John circles away.

Yelton drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

John wriggles free and stands up.

Yelton closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
John is trying to break free.
Yelton looking to throw knees to the head but John is blocking nicely.
Yelton with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Yelton keeps control of John as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

John really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yelton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

John has one foot on Yelton's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

John lands with a hook. Yelton tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Yelton fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt John.
Yelton shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts John as he jumps to the side.
John on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
John throws a head kick that misses.
Yelton throws a combination but it was largely blocked by John.
John throws a right and a left that both miss.
A solid leg kick lands there for Yelton.

Brett Yelton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That was a close second round but I would say that Brett Yelton will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

John looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

John rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Yelton moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Yelton turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Oliver John seems to be getting the better of the standup.
John fails with an attempt to clinch.
John tries to land a front kick but Yelton steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
John doesn't manage to clinch there - Yelton circles away.

Yelton wants to work for an arm triangle but John is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Yelton scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
John is in trouble now - Yelton has advanced to mount!
John's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Yelton tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Yelton has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
