Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeff Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Axel VanRoth!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Roberts and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Coleman as VanRoth shoots in.
VanRoth slips a jab and a cross from Coleman.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Coleman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has VanRoth pinned against the cage. VanRoth gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Coleman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in VanRoth's guard.
Coleman trying to stand up but can't free himself from VanRoth's guard.
VanRoth looking to hit a scissor sweep but Coleman is one step ahead there.
Coleman wants to stand and escape but instead VanRoth has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

VanRoth stands up from Coleman's guard - VanRoth perhaps looking for a knockout.
VanRoth dodges the punch combination from Coleman.

and Coleman counters by moving into the clinch.

VanRoth is looking for a triangle but Coleman pushes his legs off easily.
VanRoth is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

VanRoth has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Coleman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Coleman wanted to stand there but VanRoth had control of the position.

Coleman tries to stand but VanRoth is controlling from the bottom.
Coleman could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Coleman moves in looking to clinch but VanRoth pushes him off.
Coleman misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
VanRoth looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Coleman is fending him off so far but VanRoth persists. Nope, Coleman circles away and we're back to standing.
Jeff Coleman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Axel VanRoth.
VanRoth shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Coleman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in VanRoth's guard now.
Coleman wants to get up but he can't break VanRoth's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
VanRoth throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
VanRoth is trying to keep Coleman in close.

VanRoth is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
VanRoth seems keen to control Coleman's posture.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Coleman wants to stand and escape but instead VanRoth has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
VanRoth postures up in Coleman's guard and throws a big left but Coleman blocks it.
VanRoth seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
VanRoth wants to control from the top but Coleman keeps moving.
VanRoth missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

VanRoth is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeff Coleman dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Coleman throws a big shot that misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from VanRoth.
Coleman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jeff Coleman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Coleman shoots in for a double leg but VanRoth sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
No joy there for Coleman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Coleman drives through and clinches with VanRoth against the cage.

VanRoth jumps into guard, dragging Coleman to the mat.
VanRoth bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Coleman's guard.
VanRoth passes Coleman's left leg - he's now in half guard.
VanRoth trying to pass the guard but Coleman defending well.
Coleman is trying to stand.

VanRoth content to control rather than advance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
VanRoth prevents Coleman from standing back up.
VanRoth seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Coleman is trying to stand up here but VanRoth is controlling him well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Coleman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Coleman looking to control but VanRoth is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

VanRoth has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Coleman's lack of action.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jeff Coleman just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Coleman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but VanRoth paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Coleman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

VanRoth had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Coleman is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. VanRoth Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Coleman's back instead.
VanRoth lands strikes to the head.

Will VanRoth go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
What can Coleman do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

VanRoth is persistently looking for the submission but Coleman is defending it well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

VanRoth is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Coleman won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips VanRoth off his unconscious opponent!
