PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Spider Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leo Clarke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machida has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Spider Machida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Leo Clarke!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clarke fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Machida manages to avoid it.
Clarke throws the kick towards the body but Machida avoids it.
Machida gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

It looks like Spider Machida has been cut.
Machida is breathing heavily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Clarke. Machida does a little dance to reset his feet.
Machida pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Machida on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Clarke is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Clarke throws a big shot that misses.

Machida tries to keep at a distance but Clarke has taken the fight into the clinch.

Clarke escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Clarke connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Machida's hands.
Sloppy strikes from Clarke. Those never looked like landing.

Clarke closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Machida did well to prevent Clarke getting side control.

Clarke is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Machida blocking the ground and pound attempt from Clarke.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Machida is in trouble now - Clarke has advanced to mount!
Clarke throwing strikes here but Machida is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Clarke takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Clarke is working for a guillotine from mount but Machida frees his head quite easily.
Clarke fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Clarke trying to control but Machida is having none of it.
Clarke scoring with strikes but Machida is staying in there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Clarke looking to finish Machida with some ground and pound. This is bad for Machida!

Machida is rocked!
Clarke postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Machida in real trouble here! The ref calls for Machida to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Leo Clarke!
