PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Chimpo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Vanderlaine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Chimpo might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to comin to your city. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Chimpo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Viktor Vanderlaine!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Alyssa Summers and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chimpo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vanderlaine as he avoids it easily.
Chimpo scores with a push kick.
Chimpo tries a low kick but Vanderlaine avoids it.

Chimpo has closed the distance and engaged Vanderlaine in a clinch.
Vanderlaine gets underhooks to prevent Chimpo's takedown attempt.

Chimpo is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Vanderlaine can't fight it off and eventually Chimpo manages to take the fight to the floor. Vanderlaine looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Chimpo prevents Vanderlaine from getting back to his feet.
Chimpo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Vanderlaine tries to escape but Chimpo is in control.
Chimpo lands some shots froms side control.

Chimpo stands up and beckons Vanderlaine to his feet.
Chimpo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vanderlaine as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Chimpo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Vanderlaine blocks a head kick by Chimpo.
Chimpo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Chimpo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Chimpo misses with a double jab.
Chimpo with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Vanderlaine to score with a decent uppercut.


It looks like Johnny Chimpo has been cut.

Chimpo shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Vanderlaine pushes Chimpo off and gets back to his feet.
Chimpo is breathing heavily.
Chimpo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A low kick from Vanderlaine misses

and Chimpo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vanderlaine won't be happy with that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chimpo wants to control but Vanderlaine is keeping him busy.

Chimpo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Vanderlaine has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Chimpo but great work by Vanderlaine.

Vanderlaine tries to move into full mount but can't pass Chimpo's legs.
Chimpo regains half guard.
Chimpo slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Vanderlaine really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chimpo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Chimpo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Vanderlaine!
Chimpo is landing with some decent strikes but Vanderlaine is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Vanderlaine is desperately trying to improve his position but Chimpo has a good base and remains in mount.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Chimpo goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Vanderlaine turns into him and now he's in Chimpo's guard.
Chimpo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vanderlaine is one step ahead there.

Chimpo looking for a guillotine here but Vanderlaine defends easily.
Vanderlaine thows a big elbow that misses.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chimpo wants to sweep but no luck.
Vanderlaine must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Chimpo is striking off his back. Vanderlaine thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Chimpo is looking for a sweep. Vanderlaine is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Vanderlaine looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Vanderlaine drops an elbow to the side of Chimpo's head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vanderlaine throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Chimpo clinches.

Chimpo turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Chimpo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Vanderlaine, who protects the arm well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!


Chimpo misses with an attempted mid kick.
Vanderlaine avoids the head kick by Chimpo.
Chimpo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vanderlaine circles away.
Vanderlaine moves out of range as Chimpo throws a body kick.
A bone on bone clash there as Vanderlaine blocks the leg kick.
Johnny Chimpo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chimpo misses with a head kick.
Chimpo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Chimpo doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Vanderlaine counters with a series of strikes. Chimpo will be more careful next time no doubt.
Chimpo shoots in but Vanderlaine avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Chimpo tries to roll over but Vanderlaine keeps him under control.

Chimpo gets back to full guard.

Chimpo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vanderlaine gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Vanderlaine has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Chimpo is proving hard to escape from.
Vanderlaine is breathing heavily.
Chimpo tries to strike from the bottom.
Chimpo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Vanderlaine wants to improve his position but Chimpo is controlling well.
Chimpo looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Chimpo working over Vanderlaine with some ground and pound. Vanderlaine looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Vanderlaine on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Chimpo scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Chimpo is looking for a kimura but Vanderlaine is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Chimpo to get the leverage.
Chimpo passes to full mount!

Chimpo has control of Vanderlaine's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Vanderlaine regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Chimpo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Chimpo lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chimpo connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Vanderlaine wants to hold on but Chimpo pushes him away.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Chimpo cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Vanderlaine flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Chimpo pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Chimpo breaks from Vanderlaine's wrist control and lands an elbow.


Vanderlaine is rocked!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vanderlaine can do anything to dispel that myth.
Chimpo lands a big elbow.
Vanderlaine is still in real trouble! Can Chimpo finish him?
Johnny Chimpo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Vanderlaine takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Chimpo's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johnny Chimpo!
