Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wrussel Wrestle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Freddie James!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wrestle gets a double leg takedown into James's guard.
Wrestle postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
James controls Wrestle momentarily but Wrestle frees himself.
James keeping full guard, as Wrestle tries to pass.
Wrestle has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Wrestle seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

James escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wrestle gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Wrestle sitting in guard, not really doing much.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Wrussel Wrestle just wasn't active enough.
James shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Wrestle counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Wrestle makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Wrestle stays in close to James's body and controls the position.
Wrestle wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wrestle content to stall in guard here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wrestle wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wrestle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Wrussel Wrestle.

Wrestle feints and as James raises his hands in defense, Wrestle changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wrestle controls from within his opponent's guard.

Wrestleis looking to pass into half guard but James pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now James is in guard.
James trying to control the position from guard on top but Wrestle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Wrestle wants to sweep but no luck.
James wants to control from the top but Wrestle keeps moving.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Wrestle pulls James in to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Wrestle shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. James is trying to defend but Wrestle finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Wrestle is controlling the pace.
James should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Wrestle is trying to control. James wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wrestle lands strikes from half guard.

James wants to control but Wrestle is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Wrestle slows the pace down in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Wrestle darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Wrestle looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Wrestle sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. James defending well though.
James is looking to control Wrestle's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can James avoid being mounted?
Wrestle trying to mount his opponent but James defends it.

Wrestle is just content to waste time from the top position. James takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Wrestle looking to pass the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wrestle preventing the sweep.
James looking to control.
Wrestle connects with a couple of short punches.


It looks like Freddie James has been cut.
Wrestle wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position.
Wrestle content to stall in guard here.
Wrestle has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Wrestle looking to pass the guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wrestle looking to sit in guard and control but James gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
James has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wrestle is proving hard to escape from.
Wrestle is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Wrussel Wrestle just wasn't active enough.

Wrestle gets a takedown into half guard.
Wrestle is trying to control the action in half guard but James is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Wrestle is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, James is hurt! He's hurt bad - Wrestle fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save James from any more punishment! Congratulations to Wrestle! Great finish!
