The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
McCarthy slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Murphey.
Murphey tries to kick McCarthy off but McCarthy keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Murphey is looking for a sweep. McCarthy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McCarthy wants to pass to mount but Murphey is defending the position.
Murphey is looking to control McCarthy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Murphey avoid being mounted?
McCarthy moves nicely into side control.
McCarthy wants to control but Murphey is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round.
McCarthy in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Murphey moves in looking to clinch but McCarthy pushes him off.
McCarthy scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Murphey tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
You can see the frustration on Murphey's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Murphey looks gassed!

Murphey won't enjoy being in this position. McCarthy looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Murphey is tapping - it's over boys! McCarthy picks up the submission victory!
