With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Furuichi Takayuki!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ice Man!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takayuki with a poor takedown
and Man counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Takayuki misses with a takedown attempt
and Takayuki takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Furuichi Takayuki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Takayuki with a lazy takedown attempt
and Man makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Furuichi Takayuki. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Takayuki closes the distance and clinches up with Man, looking for a takedown. Takayuki pushes Man against the cage but Man circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Man misses the jab.
Takayuki walks into a stiff left hand from Man.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Takayuki shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Oh Takayuki is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Man is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Takayuki seems to have got his legs back now.
Man gets full guard.

Man pushes Takayuki off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Man works the jab nicely.

and Man counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Takayuki thinking.

and Man counters with a crisp one two that drops Takayuki! Man thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Takayuki to his feet! Takayuki is in big trouble!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Takayuki shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Man sprawls well. Man wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Takayuki gets slowly back to his feet.
Takayuki shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Man defends it nicely.
Takayuki misses with a takedown
and Man counters with a huge left! Takayuki is in big trouble! He's backing up but Man isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Takayuki from any more damage. A dominating finish by Man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ice Man! Ice Man retains his middleweight title!
