PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Toby Boi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicke Wandor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boi comes to the cage accompanied by "Stricken" by Disturbed. Wandor has chosen Jedi Mind Tricks - Deathbed Doctrine as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Toby Boi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nicke Wandor!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Wandor is trying to maintain the position but Boi is very close to passing his half guard.
Boi is taking a breather. Wandor says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Wandor is looking for a sweep. Boi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Boi seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Wandor is trying to get back to full guard.
Boi wants to free his trapped foot but Wandor is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Boi is tying to control. Wandor wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Wandor connects with a solid leg kick.
Boi uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Wandor.
Boi shoots in looking for a takedown. Wandor tries to sprawl out of it but Boi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wandor manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Wandor is looking for a sweep. Boi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Wandor looks gassed!
Boi wants to control but Wandor is keeping him busy.

Boi decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Boi scores a takedown into full mount!
Boi lands a big shot there that rocks Wandor but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Boi lands a big elbow.
Wandor tries to reverse the position but Boi maintains control.
Boi looking to control but Wandor is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Boi looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Boi trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Wandor is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Toby Boi dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Boi stuffs the takedown attempt from Wandor. Wandor gets slowly back to his feet.

Boi is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Wandor has managed to free his arm - good work.
Boi is controlling the pace.

Boi wants to control from the top but Wandor keeps moving.

Boi avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Boi lands a couple of digs.

Boi thows a big elbow that misses.
Boi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Wandor looking to control.
Wandor is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Wandor seems to be looking for submissions.
Wandor trying to control the action but Boi is working from the bottom.
Wandor might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Boi kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Boi tries to get to full guard but Wandor has control of the leg.
Wandor wants to pass the guard but Boi is defending well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Wandor is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Wandor seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Boi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Wandor stops Boi from getting back to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Wandor gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Boi takes a knee right on the jaw!
Wandor connects with a nasty looking knee right to Boi's face.
Wandor throws a knee to the head but misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nicke Wandor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Boi keeps the fight on the outside.
A punch combination from Boi misses.
Boi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Toby Boi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wandor tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Boi paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Wandor counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Wandor.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Wandor is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Boi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Boi tries to get out of the position.
Wandor makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Wandor is fighting to break Boi's control of his arms but Boi is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Boi chips away with some ground and pound.
Wandor bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Boi's guard.

Wandor wants to control from the top but Boi keeps moving.
Wandor prevents Boi from getting back to his feet.

Wandor is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Boi is looking to stand up but Wandor isn't so interested in that idea.
Toby Boi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Boi wants to sweep here but Wandor controlling him for the moment.

Boi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Boi misses with a few strikes there.
Boi misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Boi misses with a double jab.
Wandor shoots and misses

and Boi counters with a shoot takedown. Wandor fights it but they end up in guard.
Boi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Boi connects with a couple of short punches.
Boi wants to control from the top but Wandor keeps moving.

Boi wanted to stand there but Wandor had control of the position.
Wandor keeping full guard, as Boi tries to pass.
Boi is looking to stand up but Wandor won't let him.

Wandor had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Boi is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Wandor Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Boi's back instead.
Boi rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Toby Boi.
I think Boi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
