PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khash Mango (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Khash Mango!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mango shoots in for a takedown but Santos shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Santos keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mango fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Santos walks forward, straight into a front kick from Mango.
Santos throws a left and a right that both miss

and Mango counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mango.

Mango pulls Santos into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Santos wants to control from the top but Mango keeps moving.

Mango looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Santos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Mango has his hands on Santos's head, controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Jason Santos has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Santos loads up on a big right hand but Mango slips the punch.
Jason Santos is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mango fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Santos avoids it really well and circles away.
Jason Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Khash Mango.
Santos throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Mango counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mango.
Mango wants a takedown.
Santos tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Mango breaks the clinch.
Mango changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Santos tries to avoid it but Mango manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Santos to the ground. Santos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mango slips a jab and a cross from Santos.
A nice leg kick lands there from Mango.

Mango takes the fight into the clinch.
Santos misses with a body punch.

Mango pulls guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Santos won't allow Mango to sweep him here.
Mango managing to control the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Santos got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mango has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Santos has managed to get both his arms back between Mango's legs - danger averted.
Mango really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Santos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Santos is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Mango wants to sweep but no luck.
Mango utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Santos could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Santos passes Mango's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Mango is refusing to be controlled, as Santos sits in half guard.
Mango wants to get back to his feet.
Mango is not content to let Santos control the position.
Mango is trying to stand back up but Santos is controlling him
Santos trying to pass the guard but Mango defending well.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jason Santos just wasn't active enough.
Santos misses with a double jab

and Mango holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Santos tries a body shot but Mango blocks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mango connects with a knee to the head.


It looks like Jason Santos has been cut.

Mango pulls guard.
Mango is controlling Santos's posture.
Santos postures up in Mango's guard and throws a big left but Mango blocks it.
Mango seems keen to control Santos's posture.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mango working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Santos has passed into half guard!
Mango is controlling Santos's position as best he can from this difficult position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Let's hope that Mango has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Mango blocks an uppercut.

Mango breaks from the clinch.
Santos misses with a double jab
and Mango connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mango checks a leg kick.

Mango instigates a clinch.

Mango breaks from the clinch.

Mango lands a big head kick that sends Santos tumbling to the mat! Mango takes a step backwards and waves Santos back to his feet - he wants the finish!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Santos swings for the body but Mango moves out of range.
Santos shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Mango tries for a takedown but Santos sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Santos falls off balance throwing a combination
and Mango counters with a right, left combo that wobbles Santos badly! Mango follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Santos out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Mango finished him against the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Khash Mango!
