The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dez doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Maggio counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Maggio manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Maggio's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Maggio jerks Dez's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Dez drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Maggio goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Maggio because Dez was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). Tony Maggio!
After winning the bout, Tony Maggio thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
