PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Voorhees (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Breezy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Voorhees!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Breezy!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Voorhees throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Breezy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Voorhees as he jumps to the side.
Breezy throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Voorhees.
Breezy avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sloppy strikes from Voorhees. Those never looked like landing.
A punch combination from Voorhees misses.
Joe Breezy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Breezy rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Voorhees moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Voorhees connects with a body shot.
Voorhees could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Breezy looks gassed!

Breezy gets tackled into the ropes by Voorhees. Voorhees maintains the clinch.
Breezy is looking to break free of the clinch but Voorhees has double underhooks.
Voorhees is trying to break the clinch but Breezy is controlling him.

Voorhees pulls guard effortlessly.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Breezy prevents Voorhees from getting back to his feet.

Voorhees working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Breezy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Breezy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Breezy is fighting to break Voorhees's control of his arms but Voorhees is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Voorhees lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Breezy!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Voorhees sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Voorhees controlling the position easily from mount.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Voorhees thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Voorhees looking to control and managing it successfully.

Jason Voorhees has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Voorhees jabs Breezy to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Voorhees misses with a two punch combination.
Voorhees misses with a double jab.
Voorhees works the jab nicely.
Voorhees works over Breezy's head and body with a nice combination.
Breezy takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Breezy takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Voorhees lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Breezy circles away quickly and effectively.
Voorhees throws a right and a left that both miss.

Voorhees rushes Breezy and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Voorhees breaks the clinch.
Breezy takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
No joy there for Voorhees, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Voorhees drops Breezy with a beautiful combination! Breezy stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Voorhees is looking for the KO!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Voorhees dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Voorhees tries to bum rush Breezy with a series of wild strikes but Breezy uses good footwork to avoid the assault.


Breezy is rocked!
Voorhees throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Breezy.
Voorhees lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Breezy goes down and covers up as Voorhees starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jason Voorhees!
