The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Werdum shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Werdum drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Werdum jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Werdum stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Overeem swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Overeem really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Werdum. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Werdum is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Overeem is just riding it out for now. Werdum eventually gives up the hold.
