PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roman Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Owens comes into the arena with Disturbed- Inside the Fire blaring out of the sound system. Anderson has chosen Meet the Monster as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Anderson fails to land with a series of punches.
Anderson walks into a straight right hand from Owens.
Anderson shoots in but no luck this time.
Anderson wants to clinch up but Owens keeps it at a distance.
Anderson tries to clinch up.
Anderson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Anderson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Owens closes this distance looking for a takedown but Anderson circles away.
Anderson doesn't manage to clinch there - Owens circles away.
Horrible takedown by Owens or perhaps it was just good defense by Anderson which made him look bad.
Owens misses with a jab, cross combination.
Owens throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Anderson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Andersonis looking to pass into half guard but Owens pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Owens is in guard.
Anderson wants to sweep here but Owens controlling him for the moment.
Anderson controls Owens momentarily but Owens frees himself.

Owens prevents Anderson from improving his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Owens is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Anderson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Owens tries to pass the half guard into mount. Anderson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Owens looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Owens stops Anderson from getting back to his feet.
Owens is stalling here. Anderson is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Owens seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Anderson has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Owens manages to get back to half guard.
Anderson prevents Owens from improving his position.
Owens is not content to let Anderson control the position.

Owens manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Owens shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Anderson pinned against the cage. Anderson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roman Owens. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Anderson rushes Owens and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Owens throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Anderson counters with a three punch combo that has Owens backing up. Owens nods at Anderson to acknowledge the strikes.

Owens avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Owens drops Anderson with a left right combo! Owens follows him down to the ground into side control.

Anderson is rocked!

It looks like Matt Anderson has been cut.

Owens decides to stand back up.
Anderson is still on wobbly legs! Can Owens finish him?

Owens dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Anderson has had enough and taps out.
