Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mikey Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Nolan!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nolan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Morris avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nolan has his takedown stuffed
and Morris counters with a head kick. That will keep Nolan thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Nolan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nolan scores with a jab to the body.
Nolan takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Some wild striking there from Morris.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nolan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Morris pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Chris Nolan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Morris stuffs the takedown.

Nolan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Morris, pushing him back against the cage.
Nolan is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Morris pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Morris tries to score a body lock takedown but Nolan shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Morris breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nolan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Morris manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A head kick misses from Nolan.
Nolan tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Nolan wants to clinch up but Morris keeps it at a distance.
Morris pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Morris drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nolan throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Nolan has Morris pulled in close to control his posture.
Morris trying to stand up but can't free himself from Nolan's guard.
Nolan is looking to stand up but Morris isn't so interested in that idea.
Nolan keeping moving, preventing Morris from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nolan.

Nolan looks to clinch

and Morris counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Morris.

Morris wants to get up but he can't break Nolan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Morris decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Nolan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Morris manages to avoid it.
Nolan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Morris defends it nicely.
Nolan digs a good hook to Morris's body.

Nolan wants to clinch
and Morris counters with an outside leg kick.

Nolan moves into the clinch successfully.
Nolan tries to land knees in the clinch but Morris avoids the damage to the body.
Nolan wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Nolan has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Morris has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Nolan after a bit of a struggle.
Morris jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nolan walks away with a smile on his face. Morris gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Morris shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nolan sprawls well. Nolan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Morris gets slowly back to his feet.

and Morris counters with a thumping low kick.
Nolan tries to clinch up.
Morris fails to land the takedown.
Nolan goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Nolan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Morris counters with a takedown into side control.
Mikey Morris overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Morris stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Morris stuffs the takedown attempt from Nolan. Nolan gets slowly back to his feet.
Nolan is breathing heavily.
Nolan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A head kick misses from Morris.
Morris avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Morris ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nolan moves away.
Morris tries to clinch up.
Nolan misses with a kick to the body
and Morris counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Morris tries to pull guard but Nolan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Nolan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Nolan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Morris slips nicely into half guard.

Morris is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Nolan tries to clinch there but Morris circles away.

Nolan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Chris Nolan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Morris, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
