Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Schultz!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Columbo Gatti and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schultz has his takedown stuffed

and Patterson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Patterson is working for a submission of some sort.
Patterson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Patterson is thwarting Schultz's attempts to control the position.

Patterson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schultz moves into full guard.
Patterson trying to control but Schultz is working from the bottom.

Schultz keeping full guard, as Patterson tries to pass.
Patterson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Schultz lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Patterson!
Patterson tries to hold on but Schultz postures up.
Schultz throws some wild stikes that Patterson manages to avoid easily.
Patterson is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Patterson is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Schultz landing strikes, looking to finish!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Patterson reaches up and holds on to Schultz to control the position.
Patterson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Patterson tries to lock up and control but Schultz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Patterson is bucking up trying to escape but Schultz cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Schultz has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Patterson's face.
Patterson is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schultz postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Patterson looks a forlorn figure.

Patterson is breathing heavily.
Schultz connects with a bit shot that sees Patterson covering up! More strikes from Schultz and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Schultz is our winner by TKO!
