The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brath tests Sylwia's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Tim Sylwia has been cut.
Brath throws a right hand that misses

and Sylwia counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Sylwia is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Brath has managed to free his arm - good work.
Brath regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Sylwia.
Sylwia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brath swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sylwia prevents Brath from getting back to his feet.
Brath on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Brath tries to get out of the position.

Sylwia thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sylwia has gone for a leg lock! Brath slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sylwia's guard.
Brath throws an elbow that misses. Sylwia uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Brath's guard. Nice move by Sylwia!
Sylwia wants to control from the top but Brath keeps moving.
Sylwia tries to free his leg and advance position but Brath is retaining full guard.
Brath is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sylwia is controlling him.

Brath scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Brath goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Brath scores with a sloppy right hand. Sylwia should have avoided that one.

Brath swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Brath lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Brath counters with a left and a right that stings Sylwia.
Boregone Brath has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Sylwia.
Brath misses with a jab, cross combination.
Brath lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

That has opened up Tim Sylwia's cut even more.
Brath connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sylwia's hands.

Brath closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Brath lands in his opponent's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brath fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sylwia sprawls well initially but Brath persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Brath thows a huge punch but Sylwia dodges it nicely.
Brath is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Boregone Brath overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
