Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andre Battle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jonas Erikson!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Erikson connects with a solid leg kick.
Battle shoots in but Erikson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Battle closes the distance and clinches up with Erikson, looking for a takedown. Battle pushes Erikson against the cage but Erikson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Battle shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Erikson as he avoids it easily.

Battle tries for a takedown but Erikson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jonas Erikson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Battle is breathing heavily.
Battle will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Battle shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Erikson as he jumps to the side.
Battle tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Erikson throws a quick inside leg kick.
Battle shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Erikson but Erikson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Erikson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Erikson drives through and clinches with Battle against the cage.

Erikson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Battle fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Battle has a takedown stuffed.
Erikson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Battle moves into range and connects with a jab.
Battle looks for a takedown but Erikson sprawls well.
Andre Battle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Erikson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Battle falls off balance throwing a combination
and Erikson counters with a good low kick that Battle was not able to check.
Battle tries for a takedown but Erikson circles away easily

Erikson throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
No joy there for Battle, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Battle closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Battle lands in his opponent's guard.
Erikson is looking to stand up but Battle isn't so interested in that idea.

Battle lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Battle has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Erikson is proving hard to escape from.
Erikson wants to stand but Battle is controlling the position.
Battle trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Battle works over Erikson with some ground and pound from guard.
Battle has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Battle connects with a couple of short punches.
Erikson wants to stand up but Battle is controlling him.
Battle cracks Erikson with a solid left hand.
Battle looking to sit in guard and control but Erikson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Erikson wants to stand but Battle has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Battle pushes a forearm under Erikson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Erikson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
