PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rocco Campana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ansilva Derson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Derson has chosen For Whom The Bell Tolls as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ansilva Derson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Derson counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Derson.
Derson throws a sloppy head kick and Campana moves out of range easily.
Derson loads up on a big right hand but Campana slips the punch.
Campana thows a body shot but no joy.
Derson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Campana looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Campana is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Derson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Campana.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Campana in particular looking to stall.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Campana lands a nice short elbow.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Campana connects with a nice short shot to Derson's temple.

Campana is working for a kimura but Derson is defending it quite comfortably.
Campana wants to lay and pray for a moment but Derson keeps working.

Derson is refusing to be controlled, as Campana sits in half guard.

Campana is controlling the pace.
Campana's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Derson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Campana. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Campana passes the guard and advances to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Campana lands a heavy elbow.
Campana thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Campana sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Campana throws some wild stikes that Derson manages to avoid easily.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Campana shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Derson sprawls well. Derson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Campana gets slowly back to his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Campana cracks a nice hook into Derson's ribs.

Campana fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Derson square on the jaw! Damn, Derson is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Rocco Campana really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that 5th Round Clothing logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
