The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves slips under a jab.
McGee fails with a takedown attempt.
Alves tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Alves throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McGee sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Alves closes the distance and clinches.
McGee jumps guard but Alves stands there with McGee around his waist. McGee gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Alves wants to break the clinch but can't.
Alves tries to circle away but McGee has him pinned against the cage.
Alves cracks McGee with a nice body shot.

McGee is fighting off a takedown attempt but Alves is just too persistent for him and manages to trip McGee to the mat. McGee regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Alves scoring with some ground and pound.
Alves pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McGee is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alves is stalling in the full guard.
Alves passes McGee's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Alves drops an elbow to the side of McGee's head.

Alves looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Alves frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Alves lands a nice shot to the head.

McGee is trying desperately to improve position.

Alves lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
McGee tries to hold on but Alves pushes him away.
Alves working the ground and pound effectively.

Alves is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. McGee can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Alves prevents McGee from getting the reversal.
Alves can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McGee is looking to escape.
