The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivera jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nice sprawl there from Rivera as Balboa shoots in.
Balboa tries to grapple but his opponent circles
letting Rivera counter with a right hand.
Rivera connects with a body shot that sends Balboa's belly button to the back.
Balboa looks for a takedown but Rivera sprawls well.
Rivera connects with a leg kick. Balboa looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Balboa pushes Rivera away with a front kick.
Rocky Balboa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Balboa closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rivera circles away.

Balboa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rivera's waist but Rivera gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Balboa off to one side.
Rivera lands a nice leg kick that just misses Balboa's sensitive parts.

Balboa takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Balboa takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Balboa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rivera sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Balboa somewhat.
Rivera stuffs the takedown attempt from Balboa. Balboa gets slowly back to his feet.

A decent looking cross lands there for Rivera.
Rivera jabs Balboa right on the nose. Balboa blinks but takes it well.
Rivera stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rivera wants it to stay on the feet.
Rivera dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Rivera scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Balboa slips a jab and a cross from Rivera.
Rivera lands a nice looking body shot.
Balboa walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Rivera ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Balboa shoots in and drives through. Rivera sprawls well.

Rivera lands with a straight right. Balboa didn't see that one coming.
Rivera lands with a nice body punch.
Rivera connects with an inside leg kick.
Rivera connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Rivera moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Rivera feints a jab promting Balboa to slip. Rivera then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Balboa slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Rivera changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Rivera lands a jab.
Rivera's jab looks to have found its range, popping Balboa under the eye.
Rivera fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Balboa looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Balboa chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rivera can pounce on him.

Rivera lands a slapping body shot.
Rivera lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Rivera lands a right hook to the body.
Rivera lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Rivera throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Rivera lands with a hook. Balboa tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Balboa takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Rivera.
Rivera is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Balboa had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Rivera tests Balboa's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Rivera lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A slapping leg kick lands for Rivera.
Rivera connects with a right hand. Balboa shakes it off.
Rivera buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Balboa tries for a takedown but Rivera sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Balboa is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
A slapping leg kick lands for Rivera.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Balboa. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Rivera throws a good cross that connects.
Balboa takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Balboa might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

Balboa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Rivera manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Juancho Rivera seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Rivera's corner calls for a 1-2. Rivera obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Balboa looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Rivera keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Balboa tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Nice shot lands for Rivera.
