PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kuai Lai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Steel might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Saliva - Ladies and Gentlemen. Lai has chosen CKY - Chinese Rap as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kuai Lai!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel cracks Lai with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Lai works Steel's body with a nice hook.
Lai tries a head kick but it misses.
Kuai Lai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steel is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Lai.

It looks like Max Steel has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lai thows a body shot but no joy.
Lai moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Steel moves out of range of the strikes.
Lai on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Lai misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lai fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Steel is out of range.
Lai misses with a few strikes there.
Lai misses with an uppercut. Steel saw that one coming.
Steel misses with a two punch combination.
Lai tries to clinch up.

Lai rushes Steel and presses him up against the cage.
Lai throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Steels head.
Steel misses with a body punch.

Steel goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Steel has a couple of punches blocked by Lai.

A head punch on the inside from Lai fails to land.
Steel is trying to drag Lai to the mat but Lai just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Steel throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Lais head.

A short right hand to the side of the head by Steel.
Lai blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Steel changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lai fights it off and pushes away nicely.
No joy there for Steel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lai misses with a series of wild punches.
Steel moves out of range as Lai strikes.
Steel throws a one two combo.
Steel's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Lai connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Steel scrambles back to his feet.
Lai falls off balance throwing a combination
and Steel connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Steel circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lai blocks a leg kick.
Steel scores with a hook.
Steel misses with a body shot.
Lai has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Steel finds it's way round the side to connect with Lai's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Steel scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Lai looks to score with a jab to the body but Steel is just out of range.
Steel takes a swing at Lai's ribcage but misses.
Steel is looking to slow Lai down with leg kicks.
Lai tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Steel was well out of range. Poor timing from Lai.
Steel bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Lai takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Lai throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
No joy there for Lai, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Steel bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Lai's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Lai duly obliges.
Lai avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Lai works over Steel's head and body with a nice combination.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Steel clinches up against the cage.
Steel misses with a body punch.
Lai trying to land knees to the body.
Lai using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Steel has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Steel lands with a right to the head.
Lai throws a knee to the head but misses.
Lai throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
A shot in the inside from Steel.
Steel struggles to land a body shot inside as Lai controls his hands.
Lai lands with a short shot to the head.
Steel blocks an uppercut.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Steel.
Steel struggles to land a body shot inside as Lai controls his hands.

Steel lands with a left to the head.
Lai pushes off an throws an elbow but Steel leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Steel pushes Lai back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Lai misses with a punch to the body.
Steel lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Max Steel will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Lai misses with a combination
and Steel counters with a left and a right that stings Lai.
Nice body kick there by Steel.
Steel avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Steel, as that shot connected.
Steel scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Lai is rocked!
Lai walks straight into a right hand from Steel - that's dropped him! Steel jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Lai from any more punishment! Lai complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Max Steel!
