The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanks misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hanks loads up on a big right hand but Byson slips the punch.
Hanks scores with a jab. Byson acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Byson waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hanks.
Hanks takes a swing at Byson's ribcage but misses.
Byson slips under a jab from Hanks.
Byson misses with the combination.
Hanks uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Byson.
Byson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hanks works the jab nicely.
Hanks cracks Byson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Byson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hanks counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fred Hanks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looks like Fred Hanks has been cut.
Byson connects with a crisp jab.
Hanks paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Byson looks to land a left hand but Hanks moved out of range nicely.

Byson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hanks's hands.
The fighters circle momentarily. Byson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Hanks fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Byson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Byson is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Byson misses with a hook.
Hanks lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Byson circles away quickly and effectively.
Byson swings for the body but Hanks moves out of range.
Byson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hanks counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Byson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Byson works over Hanks's head and body with a nice combination.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Byson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Hanks jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Byson slips a straight right by Hanks.
Hanks dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Hanks lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Byson misses with an uppercut
and Hanks counters with a right hand to the body.
Hanks tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Byson was well out of range. Poor timing from Hanks.
Hanks lands a right hook to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hanks takes a swing at Byson's ribcage but misses.
Byson tries to move into range but Hanks moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Byson gets cracked there but stands up to it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fred Hanks dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hanks closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Byson! Hanks dives in looking to finish! Byson is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fred Hanks! Fred Hanks retains his light heavyweight title!
Fred Hanks decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
