Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stevie Why (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Slewton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stevie Why!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Slewton!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Why circles away from the clinch attempt.
Why checks a leg kick.
Nice shot lands for Slewton.

Why changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Slewton looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Why tries to move to mount but Slewton blocks the move with his legs.

Why looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Slewton is looking to regain half guard here but Why keeps moving and retains side control.
Slewton is not content to let Why control the position.
Slewton is trying to buck Why off.

Why tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Why has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Why is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Slewton is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Why is looking to take a break and control but Slewton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Why wants to lay and pray for a moment but Slewton keeps working.

Slewton is looking to control Why's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Slewton avoid being mounted?

Why misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Slewton managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Why.
Why lands a nice forearm strike.

Why thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Slewton wants to get back to his feet but Why drags him back down.

Why throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Slewton's waist but Slewton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Why off to one side.
Why misses with a takedown attempt - Slewton sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Why trying to pass the guard but Slewton defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Slewton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Why trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Slewton is looking to stand up but Why isn't so interested in that idea.
Slewton wants to sweep but no luck.
Why tries to free his leg and advance position but Slewton is retaining full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Why looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Slewton is trying to control Why's posture but Why avoids it.
Why wants to control but Slewton is keeping him busy.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Why tries for a kimura but Slewton is defending well.

Why wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Slewton, who protects the arm well.
Why working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Why decides to stand up, so the ref orders Slewton to his feet.
Why gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Slewton counters with a shoot takedown. Why fights it but they end up in guard.
Stevie Why overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Why has a closed guard, preventing Slewton from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Stevie Why will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Why is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Slewton defends it well.

Why wants to free his trapped foot but Slewton is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Slewton is in trouble now - Why has advanced to mount!
Slewton in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Why pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Why fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Slewton is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Slewton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Why tries to control but Slewton wriggling away.

Why is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Slewton has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Slewton!

Why looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Slewton has picked Why up and slammed him! Why can't keep hold of the triangle and Slewton manages to pass to side control!

Slewton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Why does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Why keeping moving, preventing Slewton from controlling successfully.

Why working for submissions but it's allowed Slewton to get to half guard.

Well, if Slewton is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Why is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Stevie Why showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Why, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
