Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Damian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kobe Bryantss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Damian Maia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kobe Bryantss!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Bryantss misses.
Maia takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Maia just misses with a punch to the body.
Maia closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Maia displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bryantss throws out the jab.
Bryantss lands with a nice body punch.

Maia scores with a takedown into Bryantss's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Maia drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bryantss manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Maia has Bryantss in his guard.

Bryantss tries to free his leg and advance position but Maia is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Damian Maia will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bryantss catches Maia with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Maia manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Bryantss on his heels. He'll look to pass Bryantss's guard now, I'm sure.

Maia has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bryantss clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Kobe Bryantss is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bryantss does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Bryantss misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Maia shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Maia thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Maia has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bryantss connects with a leg kick. Maia looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Bryantss takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Maia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bryantss swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bryantss is fighting to break Maia's control of his arms but Maia is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Maia, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
