Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Genral Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takeyou Down (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Genral Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takeyou Down!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Lou da Vinci and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee blocks a jab.

Lee changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Down looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Down struggling a bit here.
Down tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Lee throws a strike aimed at the side of Down's head but Down avoids it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lee is trying to get an arm triangle but Down is defending well.
Lee tries to advance to mount but can't.
Down is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Down struggling a bit here.

Lee tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

The strikes coming from Lee are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Lee throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Down can do anything to dispel that myth.
You can see the frustration on Down's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
What's Down going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Lee creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Lee misses with the ground and pound.
Down regains half guard.
Down is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lee's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lee's back!

Down gets to his feet and calls for his opponent to stand and trade! Heeeere we go!

Lee throws a solid leg kick but Down takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Lee.

Lee shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lee was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Down controls the position.
Down wants to control but Lee is having none of it.
Lee thowing shots but they're missing.
Lee avoids the attempt from Down to control.
Down can't escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lee breaks from Down's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Lee landing strikes from the mount.
Down tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Down tries to hold on but Lee postures up.
Lee throws some wild stikes that Down manages to avoid easily.
Lee scoring with strikes but Down is staying in there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Down manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Lee seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Down does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Down is doing well to control the position and prevent Lee from advancing to side control.

Lee tries to pass the half guard into mount. Down knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Down is trying is best to control the position here.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Down moves into full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Down utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Genral Lee dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Lee looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Down wants to control but Lee is keeping busy.
Lee wants to pass to mount but Down is defending the position.
Lee sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Down defending well though.
Down trying to hold on to Lee's head to control him but Lee postures up.
Lee lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Down is trying is best to control the position here.

Lee scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Lee thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Lee not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Down keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Down is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lee's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lee's back!
Down trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Lee doesn't escape.
Lee controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Down decides to stand up, even though he's got his opponent's back.

Lee shoots in and bounces Down off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Down working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lee.
Down is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Lee is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Lee throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Genral Lee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lee wants to pass the guard but Down is keeping the position.
Down controls Lee momentarily but Lee frees himself.
Down looking for a sweep. Not yet Down, not yet.
Down seems keen to control Lee's posture.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Takeyou Down.
Down misses with a low kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nice defenses there by Lee.
Down does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Down fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Lee checks it well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Down misses with a looping right.

Down gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Genral Lee dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Down finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Down does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Down motions for Lee to come forward. Down throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Lee avoids the attempt from Down to control.
Lee has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Down tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Down sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Lee thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Down's head.

Lee is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Down doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lee.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Down moves into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Down is adopting a defensive guard.
Lee stands up over Down, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Down pulls Lee in close to prevent any damage.
Down manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lee manages to get himself to full guard.
Lee is trying to control the position but Down postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Down trying to stand up but can't free himself from Lee's guard.

Down decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lee, up you get!
Down misses with a takedown attempt - Lee sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Down throws a looping overhand right but Lee ducks down to avoid it.

Lee fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Down to the ground. Lee is now in Down's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee is looking to work some ground and pound but Down has wrist control.
Down looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Lee postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Down is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Down keeping moving, preventing Lee from controlling successfully.
Lee is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Down is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lee drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Down manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lee has Down in his guard.
Takeyou Down has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Genral Lee is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Genral Lee.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lee, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
