The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ernie closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

It looks like Bert Ernie has been cut.

Ernie is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Thomas's half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Thomas is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Ernie is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Thomas sees it coming and defends easily.

Thomas wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ernie looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ernie tries to clinch there but Thomas circles away.

Thomas looks to score with a jab to the body but Ernie is just out of range.
Ernie scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Ernie throws a series of punches but Thomas moves out of range.

Ernie scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Thomas tries to buck Ernie off but Ernie is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ernie is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Thomas is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
