Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Denis Opal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terry Cheese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Denis Opal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Terry Cheese!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Daniel Bishop and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Opal wants to clinch.
No luck for Opal with that takedown attempt.
Opal keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Opal throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Cheese misses with a few strikes there.
Crunch! Cheese slams his shin into Opal's torso.

Cheese rushes Opal and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Cheese pulls guard.
Opal trying to control the position from guard on top but Cheese is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cheese is looking to stand up but Opal isn't so interested in that idea.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Opal controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Cheese is trying to control the position but Opal postures up.
Opal not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

We're going to have a standup here because Denis Opal wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Opal lands a head kick!
Cheese has a takedown stuffed.
Opal connects with a crisp jab.
Opal blocks the body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Opal throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Opal tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cheese swivels and escapes.
Opal shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cheese defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Denis Opal. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Opal wants to clinch.

Opal closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Opal lands in his opponent's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Opal postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Opal wants to control from the top but Cheese keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Cheese wants to sweep but no luck.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Denis Opal just wasn't active enough.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cheese.

Cheese manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Opal on his heels. He'll look to pass Opal's guard now, I'm sure.

Opal working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cheese doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cheese manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cheese wants to control from the top but Opal keeps moving.

Opal trying to keep a closed guard but Cheese is proving a slippery customer.
Opal pulls Cheese in close to his closed guard and prevents Cheese from doing any damage or advancing position.
Cheese is stalling in the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Terry Cheese wasn't active enough on the ground.
Cheese closes the distance but Opal moves to the side

and Opal counters with a single leg into guard. Cheese didn't expect that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Denis Opal dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Opal tries to clinch but Cheese is having none of it.
Opal fails with the takedown.
Cheese misses with a body kick.
Opal has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Cheese.
Denis Opal is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cheese tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Opal manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Opal avoids a kick to the body.
Cheese slaps away a takedown attempt from Opal, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Cheese moves into the clinch successfully.
Cheese gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Opal.

Opal wants to break free but Cheese has control.

Opal pulls guard effortlessly.
Cheese missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Opal is trying to control the position but Cheese postures up.
Opal has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Opal is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cheese is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Denis Opal.
Opal misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A nice combination there by Cheese.

Opal changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cheese tries to avoid it but Opal manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cheese to the ground. Cheese escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cheese shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Opal as he avoids it easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cheese is defended easily by Opal.
Opal defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cheese.
Opal tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cheese swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cheese fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Opal throws a sloppy head kick and Cheese moves out of range easily.

Cheese tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Opal paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Opal regains full guard. Nicely done.

Cheese keeping moving, preventing Opal from controlling successfully.

Cheese working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Opal doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Opal manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cheese looking to hit a scissor sweep but Opal is one step ahead there.
Opal is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Cheese has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Opal is working away from the top position though.
Opal prevents Cheese from improving his position.

Cheese kicks Opal off and gets back to his feet.
Opal shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cheese as he jumps to the side.
Opal looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Opal tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cheese sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Opal somewhat.

Cheese looks to land a combination but Opal avoids it well.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cheese drops down looking for an ankle pick but Opal pulls his leg out and moves away.
Opal fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Opal avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cheese lands with a kick to the temple. Opal shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Opal got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cheese has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Opal has managed to get both his arms back between Cheese's legs - danger averted.
Cheese takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Opal trying to control but Cheese is working from the bottom.

Opal moves into range and clinches up with Cheese.

Opal ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Opal no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Opal has Cheese pulled in close to control his posture.
Cheese wanted to stand there but Opal had control of the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Denis Opal showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Opal has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
