PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Hoffman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Tramp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hoffman might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Crazy Train. Phil Tramp struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 157.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoffman looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hoffman looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Hoffman closes the distance and clinches.

Tramp ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Tramp no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Hoffman being controlled here momentarily.
Hoffman wanted to stand there but Tramp had control of the position.
Tramp preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Tramp is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Tramp manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Tramp is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hoffman can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The referee warns Hoffman that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Tramp cracks Hoffman with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Tramp jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hoffman is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hoffman and Tramp has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Hoffman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Tramp stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Tramp feints and as Hoffman raises his hands in defense, Tramp changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Tramp sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hoffman's guard.

Tramp decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Hoffman throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Hoffman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Hoffman throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Hoffman decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tramp, up you get!

and Tramp counters with a nice low kick that buckles Hoffman's knee momentarily.

and Hoffman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Tramp pushes Hoffman off and gets back to his feet.
Hoffman tries to close the distance and clinch but Tramp swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Tramp is looking to clinch but Hoffman is avoiding it.
Tramp throws a nice inside leg kick.
Tramp tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hoffman paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hoffman gets caught flat footed, as Tramp shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Tramp tries to pass to full mount but Hoffman defends it.
Tramp passes the guard and advances to mount!

Tramp has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hoffman is in all sorts of trouble here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hoffman tries to improve his position but instead Tramp has taken his back!
Hoffman tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Tramp get's back to his feet.
Tramp throws a head kick that misses.
Hoffman darts in trying to clinch

and Tramp counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hoffman's guard now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hoffman has Tramp pulled in close to control his posture.

Hoffman keeping busy on the bottom but Tramp has passed one foot through into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phil Tramp dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Hoffman takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Tramp fails with the takedown.
Tramp shoots for a takedown but Hoffman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Tramp misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hoffman scores with a kick to the body.
Tramp scores with a leg kick.
Hoffman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bobby Hoffman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Tramp.

Tramp moves into the clinch.

Tramp manages to break the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hoffman throws a combination that misses
and Tramp makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Tramp changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hoffman tries to avoid it but Tramp manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hoffman to the ground. Hoffman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Tramp tries to clinch up but Hoffman circles away and keeps his distance.
Hoffman stuffs the takedown attempt from Tramp. Tramp gets slowly back to his feet.
Hoffman explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Tramp escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hoffman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Tramp is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Hoffman has had enough of the clinch but Tramp keeps him there for the moment.
Tramp tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hoffman smiles and moves away.
Tramp feints and then cracks Hoffman's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hoffman down.

and Tramp counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hoffman!

Tramp wants to control the pace but Hoffman is squirming around nicely.
Hoffman is working to get back to half guard.

Tramp takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Tramp goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Hoffman is on top in guard.

Phil Tramp showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hoffman scores with a one two! Tramp had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Hoffman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hoffman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

and Tramp counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Hoffman is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Tramp misses with a takedown attempt - Hoffman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Hoffman is trying to break free.
Hoffman keeps control of Tramp as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Tramp goes for a takedown attempt but Hoffman pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bobby Hoffman.
I think Tramp has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
