PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kily Gonzales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryoga Hibiki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hibiki has chosen Blue Orchid as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Ryoga Hibiki is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kily Gonzales!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryoga Hibiki!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzales shoots in for a takedown but Hibiki shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hibiki lands with an uppercut that bounces Gonzales off the cage and back into range.
Gonzales works Hibiki's body with a nice hook.

Gonzales feints and as Hibiki raises his hands in defense, Gonzales changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hibiki wants to sweep but no luck.
Gonzales controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hibiki pulls Gonzales in close to prevent any damage.
Gonzales postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Gonzales has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gonzales is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hibiki wants to stand and escape but Gonzales is having none of it.
Hibiki looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gonzales is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hibiki trying to keep a closed guard but Gonzales is proving a slippery customer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hibiki tries to keep at a distance but Gonzales has taken the fight into the clinch.

Gonzales prevents a takedown attempt there.

Hibiki manages to break the clinch.
Kily Gonzales seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hibiki gets caught flat footed, as Gonzales shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Gonzales passes Hibiki's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Gonzales tries to pass to full mount but Hibiki defends it.
Hibiki wants to control but Gonzales is keeping busy.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gonzales is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hibiki knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ground and pound from Gonzales seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Hibiki is looking for a sweep.
Hibiki is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Gonzales looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Hibiki is avoiding damage well.

Hibiki prevents Gonzales from improving position.
Gonzales trying to control the position but Hibiki is working away.

Hibiki is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gonzales off and has taken his back!

Hibiki has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Gonzales is in bad spot here.
Gonzales tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Hibiki can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gonzales is looking to escape.
Gonzales tries to hold on but Hibiki postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hibiki misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Gonzales wants to hold on but Hibiki pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Gonzales's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Gonzales fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Hibiki gets a takedown into half guard.
Hibiki takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Gonzales is controlling Hibiki's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Gonzales gets back to full guard.
Hibiki has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gonzales is proving hard to escape from.
Gonzales throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Gonzales wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hibiki trying to control but Gonzales is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gonzales not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Gonzales moves into the clinch.

Hibiki ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hibiki no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Gonzales loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Gonzales not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Gonzales's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Kily Gonzales wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Gonzales shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hibiki counters with a left and a right that stings Gonzales.
Gonzales misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kily Gonzales. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hibiki tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Gonzales manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gonzales defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hibiki.
Hibiki throws a right and a left that Gonzales avoids nicely.
Gonzales will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gonzales will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gonzales shoots in but no luck this time.
Gonzales looks for a takedown but Hibiki sprawls well.
Hibiki is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hibiki tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gonzales tries to clinch there but Hibiki circles away.
Gonzales stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gonzales wants it to stay on the feet.

Gonzales wants to clinch up but Hibiki keeps it at a distance.

Gonzales shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Gonzales was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Gonzales is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Hibiki won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Gonzales off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kily Gonzales!

Our winner, Kily Gonzales, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
