PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joey Snow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Curt Leocadio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Snow kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is country roads. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Curt Leocadio!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snow tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Leocadio paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Leocadio lands a head shot.
Leocadio tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Leocadio misses with a hook.

Snow gets the takedown into side control.
Leocadio is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Snow has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Snow controls the position.

Snow decides to stand back up.
Snow shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Leocadio defends it nicely.
Leocadio misses with a head kick.
Leocadio throws a series of punches but Snow moves out of range.
Leocadio lands with a hook. Snow tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
No luck for Snow with that takedown attempt.
Snow tries for a takedown but Leocadio sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Snow. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Leocadio fails to land with a series of punches.
Leocadio looks gassed!

No joy there for Leocadio, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Snow shoots and misses
and Leocadio counters with a nice body shot.
Leocadio defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Snow.

Snow gets a clinch.
Snow is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Leocadio gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Snow tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Leocadio manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Snow fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Leocadio avoids it really well and circles away.
Leocadio's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Leocadio duly obliges.

Snow is trying hard to land a takedown here. Leocadio sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Leocadio stuffs the takedown attempt from Snow. Snow gets slowly back to his feet.
Snow shoots in looking for a takedown. Leocadio tries to sprawl out of it but Snow keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Leocadio manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Snow tries to work over Leocadio's front leg with a kick but Leocadio checks it.
Leocadio lands a nice shot that snaps Snow's head back.
Curt Leocadio is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Leocadio keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Snow looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Snow counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Leocadio!
Snow controlling the pace for now.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Snow seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Leocadio for as long as he can get away with.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Joey Snow just wasn't active enough.

Snow closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Leocadio quickly recovers to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Snow's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


The fight stays on the outside here - Snow looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Snow shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Leocadio's guard.

Snow gets to his feet. Leocadio looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Snow takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Snow shoots in for a takedown but Leocadio shows good takedown defense.
Leocadio tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Leocadio looks to land a body kick but Snow moved away.

Snow fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Leocadio, pushing him back against the cage.

Leocadio is fighting off a takedown attempt but Snow is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Leocadio to the mat. Leocadio regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Snow stands and steps away. Leocadio gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Leocadio missing with a left hand there. Snow was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Snow shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Leocadio as he avoids it easily.

Leocadio cracks Snow with a good jab.
Leocadio is breathing heavily.

Snow closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Leocadio quickly recovers to half guard.
Snow controlling the pace.
Snow's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Leocadio can do anything to dispel that myth.

Snow is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Snow decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Leocadio, up you get!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Leocadio stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Leocadio wants it to stay on the feet.

Curt Leocadio seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Leocadio looks to land a combination but Snow avoids it well.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Snow is defended easily by Leocadio.
Snow looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Leocadio is fending him off so far but Snow persists. Nope, Leocadio circles away and we're back to standing.
Leocadio scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Snow takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Snow shoots for a takedown but Leocadio saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Snow shoots for a double leg takedown but Leocadio sprawls well. He's pushed Snow's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Leocadio lands a head kick. Snow smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Leocadio connects with a single shot there.
Snow throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Leocadio's waist but Leocadio gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Snow off to one side.

Snow avoids the body shot from Leocadio.
Snow slips under a jab.
Snow cracks Leocadio with an open hand slap.
Leocadio throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Snow.
Snow shoots in but Leocadio avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Snow uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Leocadio.
Snow fails with a takedown attempt.
Leocadio might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Snow shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Leocadio pinned against the cage. Leocadio gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Leocadio throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Snow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Snow shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Leocadio tries to kick Snow off but Snow keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Snow controlling the action here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Snow stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Snow throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Leocadio was covering up waiting for the punch and Snow finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Leocadio takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Snow is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Snow has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Snow gets to his feet - Leocadio follows without any prompting.
Snow moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Snow shoots in and gets a takedown into Leocadio's guard.
Snow is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Leocadio wants to get back to his feet but Snow is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Joey Snow overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Snow not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Snow passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Snow has hold of Leocadio's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Leocadio seems comfortable defending it but Snow has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Leocadio is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Leocadio is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Snow couldn't care less - he's delighted!
