PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stig Karlsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karlsson has chosen Raappana - Sensimilla as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Stig Karlsson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stig Karlsson!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karlsson throws a leg kick
and Kent counters with a slapping leg kick.
Karlsson is looking to clinch but Kent is avoiding it.
Karlsson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kent.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Karlsson.
Stig Karlsson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Karlsson tries to clinch up but Kent circles away and keeps his distance.
Kent throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Mike Kent is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That kick from Kent tenderised Karlsson's leg. Karlsson is trying to keep his angry face on.
Nice takedown defense from Kent. No joy for Karlsson on that attempt.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kent connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kent gets back to full guard.
Kent controls Karlsson momentarily but Karlsson frees himself.
Kent on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kent tries to get out of the position.

Karlsson is fighting to break Kent's control of his arms but Kent is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mike Kent.
Kent goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Kent walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Karlsson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Karlsson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kent but Kent pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Kent feints and then cracks Karlsson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Karlsson down.

and Kent counters with a low kick, right behind Karlsson 's knee.

Karlsson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Karlsson escapes and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Karlsson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kent tries to avoid it but Karlsson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kent to the ground. Kent escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Karlsson tries to clinch but Kent moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Stig Karlsson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Karlsson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kent sprawls well. Kent wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Karlsson gets slowly back to his feet.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Karlsson is defended easily by Kent.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Karlsson steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Kent. That one must have hurt.
